Hungry Hippo

We inadvertently left our Easter game of Hungry Hippo (that Easter Bunny always thinking, he gave us a game to play on spring break)at Grandmas house, so yesterday, after Y class we loaded into the car and drove out to see Grandma and retrieve our game. The kids were very, very eager to play it.
In fact, A was crushed on Easter when we realized we left it behind. It is all Grandpas fault, he tucked it out of sight, seems he thought we were to leave it there-silly grandpa. Then we I called to ask where the game was Grandma thought I was crazy because she didn’t see it at her house. I even began to think I was crazy, if she didnt have it in her house then WHERE was it. I triple checked the trunk even.
You know they just don’t make games like they used to, the game itself is fine, we enjoyed playing it. The problem is it is made of pretty flimsy plastic…I have three very exuberant and I dare say competitive kids this stuff needs to be tougher!!! My hippo kept getting jammed. S kept up pretty good for a little squirt. The sound was deafening as everyone slammed their hippos around. I had to have them hold onto the game and slap the levers on their hippos otherwise, the thing would have shot off the table.
Regarding the jammed hippo(honestly it did keep interrupting play)…..I am having SuperGeek take a look at it, to see why it is jamming (I assume operator error or assembler error)…he assured me it was nothing and exacto knife couldn’t fix.
While out to pick up the hippos we stopped to have lunch with Grandma, which is always a good time. The kids got to see her office (which is nicely decorated with their art work) and visit a few of her work friends. A had made a beautiful thank you card for the Easter Bunny, which we gave to Grandma (since she is the Easter Bunny). Grandma was ooohing and aaahing over the card and saying how thrilled the bunny would be to receive it. All this was fine until she mentioned what good friends she is with the Easter Bunny. This lead to all sorts of requests for her to call the bunny, ask the bunny over etc. We had to tell the kids that after easter the bunny goes on vacation. Grandma was wishing she had never mentioned it!
Since she is about and hour away from us going out to lunch is an all day excursion, so we have 2 days of spring break down and 5 more to go!! The kids are already asking when they go back to school. They love being home, yet, miss all their friends very much. Plus, school is ever so much more interesting then home, even with lunch trips and hungry hippos.
